This term we have introduced “Buddies”. Some of older children in secondary have volunteered to be a buddy and help support the younger children during lunchtime.

This year, we were lucky enough to be awarded a grant from the Foyle Foundation to allow us to provide environments and opportunities for our children that would not only contribute to their reading experiences, but also help them to develop life skills that they can transfer to their lives outside of the school setting.
Currently schools are learning about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), with a major focus on children’s mental health. Training is raising adult’s awareness but very little is being done to educate children.
